In response to the COVID-19 pandemic back in March, we added new equipment, restructured our product offerings to add masks and other PPE, and dedicated ourselves to doing the most we can for our customers, communities, and employees. All of which may help, but things truly won’t get better until we ensure that we are taking care of each other and doing our part to lower this virus’s spread. Especially here in the Kansas City area, where cases are on the rise, and so many of our neighbors suffer.
We want to do more, but we can’t do it alone.
We are a community, faith-based ministry helping make Kansas City a safer, better, happier place for our homeless brothers and sisters. Each year we serve around 100,000 meals and provide emergency assistance such as clothing, hygiene, boots, coats, identification assistance, mental health counseling, and much more.
Cornerstones of Care is committed to the safety, health and well-being of 15,000 children and families in Kansas, Missouri and beyond.Each year, we provide therapeutic treatment to those in our community who have experienced trauma, through our healing programs and services in foster and adoption care, mental and behavioral health, education, youth supports, family services and community training.As the safety and well-being of children is essential to our work, PPE is vital for our staff to utilize in continuing to provide child safety checks, in-home family counseling and for the front line staff who provide support to 170 children in our residential treatment and transitional living direct care programs.
HappyBottoms provides a monthly supply of 50 diapers or 30 training pants to low-income children through 54 social service agency sites.
Our partners provide healthcare, emergency assistance, education, childcare and case management services to families in need. Our partner model has a ripple effect on families by providing access to other services that will help lift them out of poverty.
City Union Mission has been a part of Kansas City since 1924. We are an evangelical Christian ministry committed to sharing the Gospel and meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of men, women and children who are in need. We offer medical services to our guests; along with long-term programs where learning centers and life skill courses guide each person toward a healthier lifestyle.
The Mission also offers community assistance and summer camps, where low-income children throughout Kansas City can have fun and discover new hope as counselors surround the children with love and consistent discipline.
