Buying The Right Shapewear
When you think about purchasing shapewear, what do you think of? Uncomfortable? ContourMD is here to change all that for you. You may have heard bad things about shapewear in the past or even experienced it for yourself. If you have poor-quality shapewear or you’re wearing the wrong size, you’ll be miserable.
It’s hard to find shapewear that doesn’t pinch, doesn’t roll, doesn’t fall apart after a few washes & is ALSO comfortable.
Shopping online for shapewear can also be difficult, without being able to try these things on, you don’t know exactly what’s going to work. ContourMD to the rescue. Your fit is guaranteed every time because our bespoke shapewear is custom-designed for you.
A quick note, if you’re considering compression garments because of an upcoming cosmetic surgery or other procedure, your surgeon/doctor will likely recommend a specific piece for your recovery. You can always go to them with questions, though, so check out our guide and then ask away!
Common “Problems” With Buying Shapewear
So before we dive into the goods on exactly how to get the right shapewear for your body, bear with us as we examine a few easy mistakes first-time buyers make.
Buying the wrong size
Don’t just grab a size below and expect it to hold everything in place more or make you look smaller. What it will do is make you look lumpy, roll down or roll up, and cut off your circulation… or you may not even be able to get it on. Ensuring your measurements are correct is key to the perfect fit, that’s why our garments are custom made!
Shapewear is designed to help you feel in control of your body and comfortable in your skin. Its compression is targeted and it fits your body exactly as it should. Ipso facto, just buy the right size!
Not knowing your measurements
Having the wrong measurements can also cause you to buy the wrong size of shapewear. Use our measurement guide and search the internet for a video on how to properly take your measurements.
Buying cheap shapewear
We hate to break it to you but good things often do cost good money. Your hard-earned dollar and so we create the very best quality shapewear available. Our garments are crafted in the United States. Because our product is so high quality, it will also last a lot longer than cheaper alternatives, while doing a better job at shaping your body in the way you prefer.
Consider the compression level
There are various levels of compression but we recommend starting light if you’re new to buying shapewear. On the ContourMD site, this means starting with Stage 3 garments. These will be the most comfortable to wear for longer durations, and also the thinnest construction and so most discrete under regular clothing.
Of course, you can go for a Stage 2 garment if you have a special event where you’d like some extra control under your outfit. Just be sure you have some experience with shapewear first and know what you’re looking for and what to expect when shopping for tighter garments.
Consider what area you want to focus on when purchasing shapewear
If you haven’t had to buy shapewear before you’re in for a pleasant surprise. You can use it to accentuate your breasts, tone your tummy, lift your butt and thighs, and so much more. Plus, there are additional benefits such as faster recovery from workouts, because of the added compression and improved circulation in those areas. Many people have also have improved posture and height from some shapewear pieces.
ContourMD has several options when it comes to shapewear focus:
• Full Body – wear an all-over suit if you have a special occasion or want that complete look!
• Torso – use torso covering pieces to smooth the tummy and cover bra bulges.
• Below the Waist – boost your bum or smooth your thighs with some biker-style shorts. High-waisted options are available.
• Breasts – if you are self-conscious about your breasts or feel they could use a perk or a bit of enhancement, wearing a compression bra could do just the trick
